Year 20, to the day, since the one in which I just kind of threw my hands up in the air and titled fics things like "dream interpretation" (dream sequence I asked readers to tell me their interpretation of in the reviews) and "this is how it happened" (get-together missing scene), and titling fics is still the bane of my existence.

This entire practice is completely unfair, whiiiiiiiiine. :(

I can't decide who my new favorite Sauron is. Wormy goo!Sauron on his little road trip of indignity? Jesus rising from the fireplace!Sauron? Pretty, psycho-eyed elf lord!Sauron with the cute little bow in his hair? Glam filter Halbrand revival!Sauron with the sudden shock of luscious curls? (Damn dude, they couldn't have given you those last season? NOW you're speaking my language.)

Speaking of "oh NOW -":

Oh NOW they're breaking out the box of elf dude wigs and female dwarf facial hair. NOW. After the fugly mormon haircuts and pervasive air of gender-conforming cowardice has already ruined all of S1. After establishing enough precedent to make this sudden tidal wave of properly groomed new he-elves and dwarf ladies glaringly inconsistent. And while making it so that Elrond and Celebrimbor still can't be fixed because of in-universe time constraints. Now. Re-release S1 with the long-haired he-elves and bearded dwarf ladies edited in where they always should have been, you fucking hacks. At least Arondir seems to have started growing his hair out? ONE DARES HOPE.

(Almost the only thing that kept me from loving S1 without reservations was the cowardly hack styling, can you tell?)

Yaaaaay, they brought Poppy back!! My giiiiirl <3 <3 <3 <3 They damn well better bring all the hobbits back again next season, old and new, even if *stuffs mouth full of cotton swabs* Gahndahlf has left them for that dude. One dares hope, while they're at their new migration, that Poppy's exploded badger boyfriend's styling will improve a bit in more humid climes.

But ugh, why did they have to do Tom Bombadil? More Dontsaygandalf interacting with the other wizard would just have been infinitely more interesting, even if I didn't personally think Bombadil was an obnoxious, tone-deaf waste of page time. And did they really have to lift half his dialogue almost verbatim from scenes made famous by the movies? Don't answer any that, I know why. I'm just rolling my eyes so hard at the blatant ratings bait ~~that I did not ask for~~, I want them to take a good hard look at what they've done. And hand in a 2000-word essay on monday about why callbacks require a delicate touch, not this "DID - YOU - GET - THE - REFERENCE - YET?!" hammering.

S1 left me faintly convinced Eärien would end up one in of those insane death cults making human sacrifices to Morgoth that Númenor comes down with near the end. S2 has continued to strengthen that impression. But while I thought Kemen might be her haplessly decent counterpart by leaning away from his father's scheming corruption even as she leans away from Elendil's bravery and nobility, now I hope that when Eärien winds up tying Kemen to the altar and cutting out his heart while he screams about how he thought she loved him, that fuckwad knows he deserves every second of his agony.

why are titles. what is alliteration

Usually I find myself editing ridiculously extended strings of alliteration out of my fics because, while it's fun when my brain falls down one of those rabbitholes and a kick when it seems to happen with no effort, the end result is usually kind of clownesque. Now I've been trying and failing to come up with an alliterative title for a teeny tiny ficlet for over two weeks, and nothing.

Having an existing naming scheme to mimic should be easier than the normal kind of title (which exists solely to thwart me, personally). Legends and Lattes. Bookshops and Bonedust. ............... and ...............

It's only two words, brain! Just two!! We both know you can do this, so why aren't you?

Gah.

The best part is that finding icons to actually fill up all those slots doesn't seem to be as much of a lost cause as I thought it would be. Yes, losing so much of my image folders mumblety years ago still hurts my soul, yes my bookmarks from way back when LJ and DW were big contain a million purged journals, and YEP Photobucket and Tinypic and all those others have done plenty of ravaging on the image embeds of what's left, but I'm pleasantly astonished by how successful I've been so far.

This should probably be my cue to get caught up on crossposting here, too. ^.^; (No I didn't have a miniature heart attack when I noticed my last not-a-private-draft-of-something-I-needed-a-place-to-stash-real-quick post here was from 2020, don't be absurd, that number is completely false hahahaha...ha... Once Rittenhouse was defeated, the Flynns moved (back) to Croatia, to an old family property near Flynn’s mother’s house. Lucy spent some time catching up with Amy and then followed them to pursue a threeway relationship. A pretty good time is had by all. (Also, every character mentioned in this fic except Lorena is some manner of friendly eldridge abomination capable of manifesting shadow tentacles for fun, profit, and freaky porn, but that’s not actually relevant to this fic, just the thesis statement of the one it spun off from. 8D )
