Title: Terminal Velocity
Author: Omnicat v''v
Rating: K+ / PG
Genre: General.
Spoilers & Desirable Foreknowledge: Up to episode 23 of the anime, at the very least, but ep 25 or 32 preferred.
Warnings: None.
Pairings: None.
Soundtrack: ‘We Are Not Alone’ by Karla DeVito. You know, from The Breakfast Club? Rather ridiculously fitting, considering what kind of movie The Breakfast Club is, and what kind of anime Gundam Wing... :P
Disclaimer: This is a "missing scene". The "scenes that were already there" were not made by me. Neither kind of scene brings me profit.
Summary: Sieghilde Balig Schbeiker ("Hilde to anyone but the tax registry") had always been a troublemaker. Set somewhere between episodes 25 and 32.
Author’s Note: Long story short: GW500 prompt # 227; terminal –> terminal velocity –> pilots –> overdone –> underappreciated –> Hilde –> rewatching ep 23 –> "Wow! Easy there babe, don’t overheat an engine." –> this fic.

PSAN: Not my favourite piece in terms of execution, but I’m glad I’ve pieced together something of a background for Hilde now. Should make writing her in longer fics a lot easier.
Legend
Hilde = from hild, ‘battle’, comes down to something like ‘battle-ready’
Balig = fiery/fierce warrior
Sieghilde = victorious in battle
And yes, those are all female names. :) The ancient roots of germanic names have always fascinated me, I can’t believe I never thought to look up Hilde before. And now I’m wondering if her naming was intentional...
