Author’s Note: Post-Boiling Rock AU where Mai and Ty Lee uh... escape and join the Gaang in its then incarnation. Don’t remember how, but it’s not important. I wrote this a long time ago for an, as it turned out, dead meme in an AtLA comm somewhere and meant for there to be more than this. But I forgot what. :D It works fine like this, though, so I’m putting it out here at long last. If you feel like taking it up and doing more with it, go ahead. (Just let me know.) Enjoy!

Summary: A set of eight drabbles inspired by a drabble challenge themed ‘A shower with any het couple’, but I cheated by switching fandoms and adding some femmeslash. 120 words each. All kinds of genres, pairings and ratings.
Author’s Note: These drabbles were inspired by a fic I once read that was inspired by a drabble challenge themed ‘A shower with any het couple’. Word count; 120 words. I took the challenge. What’s more, I ran off with it, spread it to a dozen different fandoms next to the one it originated in, broke the ‘het only’ rule beyond repair, and ended up writing over seventy drabbles with the theme ‘shower’. Sometimes I think I’m crazy.

Prologue

Water.
Earth.
Fire.
Air.
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. But unlike many now think, this did not change when the Fire Nation attacked.
It changed long before that, and for much stupider reasons.
You see, in the era before the Avatar, one did not bend the elements, but the energy within oneself. This was nice, simple, easy, but most of all clean work. A little meditation and everyone could get the hang of it. But then people just had to start bending things that don’t want to bend. Which requires effort. Which caused the ambitious benders to become tired, hungry, but most importantly: smelly. Which in turn caused annoyance among other benders, which caused fights to break out, which caused camps to be formed.
And the rest, as they say, is history...

PSAN: I suppose I owe you a bit of an explanation about this horribly plain and repetitive and blah piece of blegh. (This is the product of writer’s block, can you tell how much I hate everything that comes from my pen at the moment?) For all that Zuko is a scatterbrained klutz compared to the more prodigious prodigies and geniuses he’s surrounded with, he never struck me as particularly bitter about his (relative) lack of inborn abilities. Angry, angry, irritable and angry, yes, but his feelings seemed to go out to the world at large instead of focusing on anyone in particular. He prides himself on his stubborn refusal to yield to those without his perceived shortcomings. The only time he complained, that I can remember, was in Siege of the North, when he was stuck in a cave during a blizzard with glowy!Aang. (And given the all-around shitty month he’d had, that’s not much of a surprise, really.) Something must keep him from outright hating everyone with the luck he so sorely lacks, and I figured that that something is either an unshakable belief in ‘destiny’, or positive feelings towards the lucky ones he’s closest to, to balance out the negative sentiments. There’s no denying the former, and the junk-posing-as-fic above is one take on the latter.
